Ghandi was born in Porbandar. He was the youngest of 3 sons of Putlibai and Karamchand Gandhi. Karamchand was a caring and understanding father, working as a Diwan. Putlibai always had faith in Gandhi and taught him a lot about religion. He was greatly influenced by his father's strict disciplne and his mother's faith in the Hindu religion since he was young. When Gandhi was 13(1883), he married Kasturbai. His father died in 1885 then in 1891 his mother died while he was still in England to study.
